BICYCLE SAFETY: Bringing Up Bicyclists Class

Monday, Oct. 6th, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., MP room

The El Carmelo PTA invites all our parents to "Bringing Up Bicyclists," a free parent education class designed especially for parents of elementary school children, K-5th. Live translation will be provided for our Spanish-speaking families. An informal pre-event community reception begins at 6:45pm. All PAUSD parents are welcome.

This class is also being offered Wednesday, October 1st, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Palo Verde Elementary School MP Room or Thursday, October 2nd, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Barron Park Elementary School MP Room.

WALK/ROLL TO SCHOOL

Wednesday, Oct. 8th

Get Ready for Walk/Roll to School Day! El Carmelo families do a good job of walking, rolling, busing and carpooling to school, but we can do better! Make a pledge for a safe school commute and join our entire school community in walking and rolling to school on October 8! More details soon!

SOS-Stressed-Out-Students

Oct. 15th, 7 p.m. -9 p.m. at JLS Middle School The PTA Council is hosting a "SOS-Stressed Out Students Video Highlights" of the last week's speaker event at Stanford, followed by a live follow-up conversation, open to all parents and educators.

EL CARMELO AUCTION DATE AND LOCATION CHANGE

Mark your calender and call your sitter! El Carmelo's Auction is April 18th at the University Club.

Volunteers Needed

NOON ART- MORE HELP WANTED!

Noon Art is a PTA program that runs approximately every 2 weeks on Wednesday at lunchtime. Art and craft materials are set out together with project ideas and children drop in after eating lunch. It is fast and frenetic and, with lots of new 1st graders eager to attend, more hands are needed to help the children!

No skills required apart from an ability to tie knots and use scissors. Help is need with set-up from 11:30, hands on with the children from 12:10 to 12:45 and clean up after it is all over.

The next two sessions are on Wednesday October 8th and October 29th. Please contact Rhiannon Wallace at rhiannon@parg.co.uk if you can help.

EL CARMELO BOOK FAIR/VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Oct. 20th-24th

The book fair will run October 20th to 24th with a special story time and family night Wednesday, October 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30.

We need many volunteers to make this happen. If you are interested in helping, please contact Erika Krugler at ekrugler@pacbell.net or Kathleen Ford at ekrugler@pacbell.net.

HindiforUS After-school Classes

Offered by US Hindi Association(USHA), a 501(c)(3) Educational Non Profit, these classes provides a unique, creative, fun, highly interactive environment and teach reading, writing, speaking and comprehending Hindi. Games, puzzles and other interactive tools will be used to make it fun.

LIBRARY GAMES

Friday, Oct. 10th, 2pm, Children's Library, 1276 Harriet St.

Since school is out October 10th, the Children's Library is planning another afternoon of games at the library. Bring your own board game: limited supply of games and cards on hand. Ages 5 and up.
